phone change...

So I've been having some major issues with my MDA, 20 minute sends for my texts, short and growing shorter battery life, the slide track got off track and now thinks its permanently on a horizontal screen and wont switch back unless its pushed down with extra force to click it into place.

This is on top of the already slow Windows Mobile 5, shitty active sync issues, crashing outdated programs, and not wanting to spend any time on finding newer cracked versions, or even shelling out the money for them.. its time for an upgrade..

I weighed my options, i'm available for an upgrade in 2nd Quarter i think of next year.. not gonna happen.

Crackberry, Good for all the business end I needed (email, calendar, notes) but little customization to feed my nerd monster. Price... WAAAAY too much.

Motorola Q, dick.
Black Jack, ass.
Wizard, slight upgrade to my current phone, but for $500.
iPhone, hmm.. but can't afford to early terminate my plan, deposit godly amounts of cash to ATT, pay for transfer of number, and on top pay for a new phone..

Unless.. i pay for an upgrade for someone elses 2G...

which is what i did. Originally my brother offered the phone to me for $100, I just had to wait out Christine buying the 3G for him.. in the end he never got it cause he realized that the phone wasn't much of an upgrade, which is true.. until tonight.

My phone began to give me the worst shit today and its instability gave me some concerns.. and today Larry and I were given until the end of the month to decode and re-code the entire website (www.sandiego6.com) by the end of the month.. on top of our current workload.. emails with revisions, graphic requests and contact with our server is imperative.. i NEEDED a phone asap.

So i offered $175 for his phone, and he accepted. $175 is still cheaper than any of my other options by hundreds of dollars. Problem is.. im T-Mobile, and the iPhone is ATT.. which is a pretty simple solution... jailbreak. =)

I spent most of the night, trying to jailbreak it.. I used the Mac version the first few times, and it would end up crashing and leaving the phone in Recovery Mode. I found a PC program to release the Recovery Lock, and I tried a PC version of the tool on it, to which I found that 2.0.1 wasnt supported on the version of the tool I had.. so that ended my night.

At work I loaded the tool on my mac, ran the tool.. 20 minutes later.. jailbroken. My SIM card was accepted and I can make phone calls.. except my data signal was not recognized and I couldnt send or receive.. I had a a bit of help from the IT guys at work.. all pretty much have iPhones with 2/4 of them with hacked ones. One of them actually has a web-server on it.. LOL.. needless to say.. i trust them..

They got my data working.. but later on that night my phone app kept crashing.. I could make phone calls from my contact book, but when it comes to checking my voicemail or dialing.. it would load.. then crash.. FACK.

After a bit of research.. i found another tool for PC.. i NEED the phone aspect of the iphone.. or else whats the point.. flashed that bitch, broke it again and now all is well. Loaded apps, synced contacts, music, podcasts etc.. EVERYTHING.

Shit, I even found out the loophole that allows me to make custom ringtones.. so now all my ringtones I have for my MDA is now transferred to my iPhone.

I'm gonna make a few more to celebrate...
