Friday I picked up 5 more Tickets and invited Edric, Christine, Ryan and Chris along. It was free so hey.. what the hell. =)
When we got there we parked across the street and avoided the $20 parking fee, a lesson learned from the Janet Tour.. hahah.. free parking across the street and just walk. Pssh fuck the sports arena and their over priced parking. LOL.
So when we get in, immediately to our right is 4 Rock Band 2 stages. At first we thought it was a get up and play with your friends, then I saw some people with some waivers.. @_@ competition!?!? You damn right!. We got the info and basically what they had was 4 Stages, 2 were practice stages and 2 were Competition stages.
Look at those monitors! must have been like 70inchers! lol..
So here's the rundown... You MUST have a 4 person band, we had 3, which is stupid because I can play guitar and sing at the same time and still pwn the song, so whats to stop us? We have a singer right? NO. Must be 4.. so we found this girl playing expert drums and killing it! So we drafted her into our group.. but we were still short a singer.. my brother and christine show up and we draft him as bass.. and i bit the bullet and chose vocals since no one else would do it.. and I knew how to cheat the system a bit... we opted to name our band.. Snow White and the 3 Dorks.
So for our practice song we did "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World, its a fun song but very very tough on expert vocals cause I am not that grand of a singer, but still managed to get a 90%+ on it. Whew. One of the staff guys was telling us that the competition stages were quieter so we can score higher.. our first practice run we got 3rd place according to the Top 5 Leader board it was like 333,000 points.. As we signed our waivers we noticed we can do Dirty Little Secrets so we switched up and did that.
On our second practice run we did that song.. and got 2nd place, again with the actual concert going on in the back leaking into the microphone, I noticed I could get more accuracy covering the mic like a death metal singer.. and it worked.
That 2nd run we got 2nd place.. we're ready! We hopped on to the competition stage and looked for the song and it wasn't there.. wtf?! but its in your list and we just did it a minute ago.. No worries, they sent us to the other comp stage to play there, we got up and did our thing..
Literally before the 2nd verse ended.. we broke the 500,000 mark.. we already won and the song is like 70% done! WE RAPED THEIR SCORE!

We knew we had won.. so we started to fuck around so the score could have been higher than that.. we were psyched!! It was kinda funny too because we've been playing with this girl and we didn't know her name.. so I asked what her name was She said Mary, and she came from Texas to see plain white t's play. But this beats it out.. because our prize.. was to play rock band ON STAGE in front of everyone!! It was more or less about 2000 people.. FUCK YEA!!
So we took some pictures with the staff, they told us to wait at a certain spot and we'll go up. There was only room for 2 groups and we thought we made slot with ease, and on our first competition run too! It was like a mix of excitement and nervousness, excited because on top of winning the Drum Competition at the San Diego fair.. this HELLA beats it by fucking far!
We were going to share a stage with Dashboard Confessional, Plain White Ts and Panic.. wtf.. its fucking insane..thats when the nervousness kicked in and to think I used to watch basketball and hockey games here as a kid.. hell.. Stephen and his old singing group sang the national anthem here when Montgomery went to CIF finals!
And I was about to bless the crowd with my god awful voice LOLOLOL.. plus be up there with Ryan whom I've been playing this game forever with and my brother and a total stranger! lol it doesn't get any crazier.
We were taking it in.. getting ready mentally to perform in front of all these people.. when I see this one blonde haired staff girl come up to the group we were waiting with.. and she told them something.. and they started to scream like they won the lottery.. cool, we thought, maybe they got their constellation prize.. she'll come up to us next and let us know what we need to do next..
She comes up to us.. and tells us "Sorry they're the winners".. (rage begins to build). "Excuse me?! How is that possible?"
Dumb Blonde Bitch: "Well I tried to tell you guys like 3 times and I got no response"
US: What the fuck are you talking about? we didnt even hear you..
Dumb WHORE: I'm sorry but they won it..
We continued to argue about how we got first and blew them out of the water.. and how ridiculous it was to be shut out like this...
The stupid thing is when we were arguing, she even moved in closer like she couldnt hear us.. and we called her out on that right there.. "See you can barely hear us.. how were we supposed to hear you?" She didnt even bother to ask if we were the winning group, even though we were standing right where they told us to stand.
Then they gave us this whole thing like.. its not about the score.. FUCK YOU we raped all your competition score by miles! how the fuck are you not letting us win?
Ryan read in the rules they gave us, it said that we had to be there at 830, but we were right fucking next to the team they called to win.. BULLSHIT! FUCKING BULLSHIT!
So we started to bitch her out.. Christine (i never knew she was gangsta like this) went up to her and started to chew her out.. we left her alone and the girl was scared shit-less.. I walked up to them to break it up, and heard Christine cursing her out... telling her she's racist.. whoooooa.. whooooa.. as stupid as this blonde girl is, i wasnt about to pull the race card on her. So we had to pull her away.. (Thanks for sticking up for the group Christine.. youre a total G for that)
The guy told us, they can give us constellation prizes.
And I told him "Dude, you dont understand its not about the prize.. its the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform on stage, youre taking that away from us.. fuck the prize"
Mary came by and told them she came from Texas to watch her favorite band and she missed it for this opportunity and they fucked her.. they fucked us all. He offered to give us free merchandise..
And i said "like what? a fuckin shirt? you're gonna make up playing on stage with a fuckin shirt?" He told me.. "Its not like I can write you a check for $5000 dude" "Fuck the money dude, were not that greedy, we just want to be acknowledge that we won first place fair and fuckin square and now youre taking that away from us?"
All he could say was sorry.
I apologized for our behavior and asked them to understand how pissed and unfair it was.. he understood, and asked for my number and email and they'll talk with the MTV staff to see what they can do to compensate us.
I seriously doubt they'll do anything.. so I just gave it to them anyway, and hope they do the right thing.
I saw the winners, and congratulated them and they told us.. "yea I thought it was supposed to be 2 winners also. That's what they told us.. must be bad communication or something.." (its more than that lady) I told them good luck, they were nice people though, so I know it wasn't their fault they stole our spot on stage.
We got to catch the last half of Dashboard Confessional, and then before Panic went on.. they had the rock band winners go on.. Phil in the Blank was second place, and it wasnt the people i congratulated.. wtf?!?! then Pro Bots was the 2nd act those were the people i congratulated..
(RAGE AT FULL METER!) WHAT THE FUCK?!?!?!?! 3rd PLACE??! 3rd FUCKIN PLACE?!?! you have GOT TO BE KIDDING!.. we got 1st place.. and 2nd and 3rd got up there instead.. 2nd place did all mediums and a hard..(that was lame! and we did all expert and still scored hella higher than that)
3rd place FAILED OUT! like from the get-go THEY BOTCHED THE SONG!! but it was on no fail mode so they kept on playing with their blinking red bars.. hahaha now thats poetic justice.. that whore chose them over us. Total bullshit.. they sucked baaaaaaad.
Who knows, maybe that bitch was racist. Cause we beat their score by over 100,000 points and not even a mention about us.. just these sorry ass fools playing like shit on stage.
Panic came out.. and I'm not a big enough fan.. and I was already sour from the drama, and was ready to go.. so we bounced.
All in all it was a fun night.. drama aside. We proved that we can beat the competition out there.. this puts 2 Official MTV Rock Band wins under my belt.. and 1 for the rest of group.. I think were all winners anyway.. lets see if MTV will make good on our loss.
